Adventure Medical are Mark Bilby and Kate Turner. We are both steeped in healthcare experience from many years working in the UK National Health Service, and have a love of travel and all things adventurous. Adventure Medical enables us to combine our skills and expertise in providing high quality healthcare within the world of adventure and wild experiences which we both love. Mark started his clinical career with the Royal Navy and now has more than 25 years of patient care experience in both military and civilian settings. He has provided medical support in all kinds of settings imaginable from a Royal Navy Field Gun Team at the Royal Tournament to motorcycle trips in Europe, Southern India, the Himalayas and South East Asia. The most recent of these was to remote areas in Cambodia with 30 dirt bikers and Kate as his assistant. Mark is a State Registered Paramedic and was one of the UK's first Advanced Emergency Care Practitioners after undertaking Post Graduate studies in Advanced Clinical Practice at the University of East Anglia Kate has a degree in International Relations and a masters degree in Health Care Management. She has worked throughout the NHS for nearly ten years and has also spent time working on national health policy for the Department of Health. Planning and research is Kate's forte, her current area of academic focus is on the importance of public engagement in the development of effective healthcare infrastructure in the developing world. Kate focuses on the planning and customer relationship side of Adventure Medical but also provides support to Mark and the other affiliated medics at events and on trips. Kate and Mark are both keen motorcyclists, particularly off road, however given an opportunity will try anything at least once, particularly if it involves being outside and getting wet and muddy!
